Delhi University announces fifth cut-off list

New Delhi, July 17 : Two days before the new academic session begins at the Delhi University (DU), several colleges announced their fifth and last cut-off list for the few remaining seats on Monday.

Kirori Mal, Vivekanand, PGDAV and Ramjas were among the colleges which issued a fifth cut-off list. The candidates can seek admission in these colleges in the next two days.

Admissions in several popular courses were closed in these colleges for unreserved category but still many seats remained vacant in the reserved categories.

For instance, seats were filled in English (Honours), Economics (Honours), and B.com (Honours) in unreserved category and admissions were still on in the unreserved categories in Kirori Mal College.

Businessman shot dead in Bihar

He was shot dead in Sugauli near Motihari, the district headquarters of East Champaran.

Patna, June 25 : A businessman was shot dead in Bihar’s East Champaran district on Monday while his driver is battling for life after receiving severe injuries, police said.

Arvind Choudhary, in his early 40s, has mobile phone and other businesses in Patna.

He was shot dead in Sugauli near Motihari, the district headquarters of East Champaran.

“Choudhary was shot dead while travelling by his vehicle from Patna to Raxaul by two unidentified persons, who boarded his vehicle at Motihari,” a district police official said.

Severely injured vehicle driver Biru Kumar has been admitted in a private nursing home in Motihari, where his condition is stated to be critical.

Four dead in Muzaffarnagar Explosion

Lucknow, June 25: At least four people dead and three injured in an explosion at a scrap shop in Muzaffarnagar’s Civil Lines area on Monday. 

Bomb disposal squad present at the spot, further investigation underway.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the owner of the junk shop was hammering a pointed object when the explosion took place.

Muzaffaranagar Senior Superintendent of Police Anant Dev stated the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and the Army would soon join the probe.

Mumbai Rains: Wall Collapses in Wadala, Cars trapped

Mumbai, June 25: At least Seven cars were damaged and several trapped after a wall of an under-construction building collapsed at Vidyalankar road in Wadala’s Antop Hill due to heavy rains. 

As torrential rains clobbered large areas of Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, at least five people lost their lives in rain-related incidents, news agency IANS reported.

Following water-logging traffic and Mumbai’s lifeline, the suburban locals are affected.

Local trains are running between 15-30 minutes late and a periphery of several stations like Sion, Chinchpokli and Matunga, inconveniencing office-goers due to continuous rainfall.
