Delhi registers 5,506 new Covid-19 cases and 20 deaths


The Covid-19 surge in Delhi continued unabated on Wednesday as the city registered over 5,500 cases of the deadly virus. According to the city health department, Delhi reported 5,506 new cases Covid-19 and 20 deaths.

The last time Delhi had reported such a high number of cases was on November 24.

On Tuesday, Delhi had reported 5,100 new cases of Covid-19 and 17 deaths.

On Wednesday, authorities in Delhi conducted 90,201 tests putting the positivity rate at 6.10 per cent.

The city currently has 19,455 active coronavirus cases. Out of these, over 10,000 are in home isolation, the Delhi health department said.

Recovery rate of Covid19 patients has dropped in Delhi to 95.57 per cent.

The number of people who have recovered has reached 6,59,980, while the death toll has mounted to 11,133.

The city currently has 3708 containment zones.
