Delhi: Rahul Gandhi to lead ‘torch procession’ over power cuts, water crisis


Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will on Saturday lead a ‘Mashal Jaloos’ of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee in protest over the ongoing power and water crisis in the national capital.

The march will begin at 6.30 pm at Samta Sthal and continue to Players Building via Rajghat.

According to media, The protests are aimed at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party government. The BJP has also been protesting in front of Kejriwal’s residence over the same issues.

Delhi has been facing massive power outages for as long as five hours at a time in areas like Okhla, Lodhi Colony, Bhogal, Nizamuddin, Jangpura Extension, Masjid Moth, Malviya Nagaar, Kalkaji and parts of Lajpat Nagar and South Extension.

However, Kejriwal has said that his government will take strict action against the power companies if they fail to resolve the issues leading to power cuts.
