Delhi Minor Rape: DCW issues notice to police, school

New Delhi, Aug 10: The Delhi Commission for Women on Friday issued a notice to police and government school over the alleged rape of a 6-year-old girl.

 On August 8, a minor girl was raped in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) school located in the  Gole Market area.

The incident came to into light on Thursday after the child’s parents reported about the alleged sexual assault to the police.

“The accused was identified as 37-year-old Ram Asre. He was nabbed from the school on Thursday after the victim identified him,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma told media.

“During the initial probe, it was found that Asre after school hours took the victim to a pump house where he sexually assaulted her. He also threatened her not to tell about the incident to anyone,” the police officer said.

According to the police, Asre was working in the school for around a month and is a  permanent electrician employed with the NDMC.

Earlier in a day, several parents of students staged a protest outside the school.

One of the parents told media that” even women have to register their entry before going inside the school, how did a man enter just like that?’
