Delhi HC commutes Jigisha murder convicts’ death sentence to life imprisonment

New Delhi, Jan 4: The Delhi High Court on Thursday commuted the death sentence of Ravi Kapoor and Amit Shukla to life imprisonment in Jigisha Ghosh murder case. 

Two death row convicts, Kapoor and Shukla and another convict Mallik had challenged the trial court’s conviction and sentence in the case.

The trial court had sent death penalty case to the high court for confirmation of the sentence within 30 days of the pronouncement of the judgement on July 14 in 2016.

The twenty-eight-year-old Jigisha, who was serving as an operations manager with Hewitt Associate Pvt Ltd, was kidnapped and killed on March 18, 2009 after her office cab dropped her near her Vasant Vihar residence in south Delhi around 4 a.m.

Her dead body was found on March 20, 2009 near Surajkund in Haryana.

In connection with this, the police arrested Kapoor, Shukla and Malik.
