Delhi govt orders legal action against 3 TV channels that ran doctored tape of JNU protest.
Earlier the Aam Admi Party government is convinced that the JNU incident cannot be a sedition case.
Even the forensic lab report states that of the seven video clippings, two were doctored and the Delhi government’s probe report has given a clean chit to the arrested JNU students.
“The lab report confirms that videos were tampered. Words such as ‘Bandook’, ‘sher ke bacche’ and ‘Hurriyat ke Javan’ were later inserted in the video. The media houses which did this will face criminal charges,” said sources in the Delhi government.
The government is exploring options and has sought opinion from the law department. Even those new channels which aired the doctored videos will face a criminal case.
On February 13, the government ordered a magisterial inquiry into the alleged raising of anti-national slogans on the university campus on February 9.
Several videos of the event have surfaced since the row broke out, leading to the arrest of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya on charges of sedition and triggering widespread protests.
