The Delhi government has cancelled the exams of Classes 9 and 11, announced Education Minister Manish Sisodia. These exams had been postponed on April 12 and Sisodia had told students on April 15 that the Class 9 and Class 11 exams were cancelled.
“The class 9 and 11 exams in government schools have been cancelled. Whatever criteria the board decides for evaluation of class 10 students, we will adopt the same for class 9 and 11 too,” Sisodia had said back then.
The state government on Thursday released details on how the schools can declare the results for the two classes.
If schools have conducted mid-term and annual exams already
The private schools which had conducted their mid-term and annual exams can now declare the results of their Class 9 and Class 11 students on the same basis.
Any school in which only mid-term examinations were held and annual examinations could not be conducted — whether it is a government school or a private school — will declare the Class 9 and Class 11 on the basis of their mid-term examination.
If schools haven’t conducted mid-term exams
In Delhi government and private schools where even the mid-term exams were not conducted or some of the exams could take place while others couldn’t, the school has to decide marks for students on the basis of the best two subject performances by the students in the exams they have appeared for.
Students will be promoted to the next class on the basis of this score. However, their marksheets will be prepared by giving marks in other subjects as well.
One more chance for exams
There are a few students who gave only one paper of mid-term or did not give any exam or who did appear for the mid-term exam but could not pass. All these students will be given one more chance to sit for the exams.
The examination of such children will not be done physically i.e. by calling them in school. They will be assessed through reassessment projects and assignments and will be at the school level. A complete guideline will be issued for this.
Delhi Class 9 and Class 11 results on June 22
The results of Classes 9 and 11 in Delhi government schools will be declared on June 22. This result can be seen on the website of the education department, but no school can call the students to the school physically.
Fresh admissions in Delhi schools
Online registration will be done for the children who want to take admission in Classes 6 to 9 in Delhi government schools. Registration will open from Friday evening.
The online applications can be made between June 11 to 30, and the admissions will be announced by July 14.
