New Delhi, Sep 17: Many times minors are seen involving in heinous crimes in National Capital hinting that strict action has become the urgent need to protect the dignity of women.
As two of the four youth arrested for allegedly gang-raping two girls are minors and have been sent to a juvenile remand home, police said on Friday.
“Two accused are minors,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said.
“The other two accused have been identified as Shivam and Nitesh, both aged 19 years and residents of Aman Vihar,” Singh added.
Police had held four youth out of the five accused on Thursday on charge of gang-raping a young woman and a 17-year-old girl in Aman Vihar area of outer Delhi.
The alleged incident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday in a park when the two victims — aged 17 and 18 — were sitting there with two male friends.
As per the police, the four youth tried to whisk the women away, but when their male companions opposed them, the accused started beating them up.
Then the young woman and the girl were taken away at a nearby secluded area by the accused and were gang-raped.
The victims narrated the ordeal to their parents, following which a case was registered on the basis of their statements.
Meanwhile, Police is on a manhunt to chase the fifth accused in the case.
