New Delhi, Nov 4: Ahead of Diwali, the Delhi Police on Sunday seized 625 kgs of firecrackers from a shop in Sadar Bazar.
Besides this, the police also recovered 11.1 kgs of firecrackers from Subzi Mandi area and 7.9 kgs of firecrackers from Burari.
The case has been registered and further probe is underway.

“On the statement of the head constable and on the basis of recovery a case vide FIR No.262/18 u/s 286 IPC & 5/9 B (b) The explosive Act has been registered and an investigation is going on to trace the source of the recovered firecrackers/explosive items”, the police said.
This comes a day after, a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly bursting firecrackers in east Delhi despite a Supreme Court restrictions on selling and burning of old stock.
The Supreme Court on October 23 allowed the sale and use of firecrackers but with certain conditions.
It ruled that only green firecrackers will be sold which is considered less polluting.
A bench of Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan also fixed the timings for bursting crackers during festivals.
People can burst low-emission firecrackers for two hours from 8 PM to 10 PM on Diwali.
