On July 9, more than 15 kindergarten students of an all-girls school in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area were allegedly detained and locked up in the basement for not paying fees.
According to the reports, students were locked in the basement of Rabea Girls’ Public School between 7:30 am and 12:30 pm in the heat without any food or water in the extreme heat.
One of the parents told media,”My 4-year-old daughter was punished by school authorities for not paying fees while fact is I have already paid for next 6 months.”
On the related note, a case has been registered and the police have begun to investigate the matter. Amid huge pressure from the parents, several school staff have been questioned by the police.
However, yesterday the school authorities have denied the allegations, stating “Basement is where the children play, there were 2 teachers watching them, they usually sit on the ground and the fan had gone for repair that day. The allegations are wrong”.
