New Delhi, Sep 21 :Delhi Police’s special cell has arrested an alleged Chinese spy for running espionage ring in India.
39-year-old Charlie Peng was arrested on September 13, from Majnu Ka Tilla in Delhi. An Indian passport, an Aadhaar card and Rs. 3.5 lakh in cash was seized from him, said the police.
Peng was produced in the court of chief metropolitan magistrate Deepak Sehrawat and Delhi Police special cell obtained an extension of remand till Monday.
According to the documents, the accused was living in DLF Gurgaon and was running a company from a plush office in the same area and during search operation about Rs 3.5 lakh Indian currency,2000 US dollar and Rs22000 in Thai currency have also been found.
Police have recovered several incriminating documents and an SUV belonging to Peng from a house in Gurgaon.
Peng was running a foreign currency business form his residence in Gurgaon, according to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
The police claimed Peng married an Indian girl and got a passport from Manipur.He crossed over to India five years ago and then married a girl from Manipur and managed to get a passport from there while Aadhar card has the details of Delhi’s Dwarka address.
Peng came under Intelligence officers radar after his frequent visits to Himachal Pradesha and north eastern states.
