New Delhi, March 19: Around 94 kilograms worth of narcotics and 16,495 litres of illicit liquor have been recovered under Code of Criminal Procedure and Delhi police act violation since the Model Code of Conduct came into force in the view of general elections.
“Besides 94 kg narcotics, 16,495 litres of illicit liquor has been seized so far. In this, 13,001 people have been booked under CrPC and Delhi police act violation,” Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh told media last night.
In this regard, 75 FIRs have been registered under the Arms Act and 93 persons have been arrested.
Singh further stated “82 unlicensed arms and 2,113 cartridges along with 16,495 litres of illicit liquor have been seized in Delhi in different raids since March 10, the day when the Model Code of Conduct for the general elections came into force. As many as 242 people have been arrested while 235 FIRs have been registered for the violation of the Central Excise Act. Four FIRs are being registered against different political parties”.
Delhi will go to the polls on May 12, while counting of votes on May 23.
