Delhi air hostess suicide case: Deceased’s Husband Mayank Singhvi sent to 14-day custody

New Delhi, Jul 17: Mayank Singhvi, the husband of the air hostess, who committed suicide in Panchsheel Park, has been sent to 14-days judicial custody on Tuesday. 

“Mayank Singhvi has been arrested on the basis of dowry harassment allegations against him. We will examine the witnesses. Mayank’s Parents have been exempted from joining the investigation till July 20”, DCP south Romil Baaniya said while addressing a press conference.

Expressing anger, the brother of the deceased, Karan urged the police to arrest his sister’s in-laws.

“Police arrested him (husband) after 72 hrs, but still, his parents have not been arrested yet, who are part of FIR, I request police to arrest his parents soon so the investigation can move forward,” the brother told media.

Delhi police arrested Singhvi on Monday, under Section 304 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), dealing with dowry-related deaths.

According to the police, the deceased air hostess, Anissia Batra, had a fight with her husband around 4:30 pm on July 13, after which she went to the terrace and jumped off.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Romil Baniya, said a full-fledged probe has been initiated in connection with the case under Hauz Khas Police Station limits.
