Delhi: 39 girls rescued from Paharganj hotel

New Delhi, August 1: The Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) rescued 39 Nepali girls from a hotel in Paharganj last night.

Following a tip-off about several Nepalese girls being kept at the hotel, the commision raided the hotel.

According to DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal, the girls are said to have been trafficked from Nepal on the pretext of providing jobs and were being sent off to Saudi countries and Sri Lanka.

Earlier on Tuesday, 19 girls were rescued from Maidan Garhi in New Delhi by Varanasi Police with the help of DCW team.

Prio to this, the DCW rescued sixteen young girls from an apartment in Delhi’s Munirka who were trafficked from Nepal.

On the related note, Delhi Commission of Women also sought the intervention of Union Minister Rajnath Singh into the matter.
