Deepika Padukone’s wax figure to join Madame Tussauds in London, Delhi

New Delhi, July 23: Actress Deepika Padukone will be joining the worlds biggest superstars at Madame Tussauds with wax figures in London and Delhi.

The first figure will launch in London early 2019, while the Delhi figure will follow a few months later to draw more attention to tourists and fans of the actress, a statement said.

Deepika, daughter of sports personality Prakash Padukone, made her Bollywood foray with “Om Shanti Om”, beginning a journey that has seen her experience a whole lot of success. Known for her savvy style and versatility seen via films as diverse as “Piku” and “Padmaavat”, Deepika has also done a Hollywood film “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”.

The team of Madame Tussauds expert artists met Deepika in London for the all-important sitting for her figures, where they took over 200 specific measurements, as well as photographs to create an authentic likeness.

Deepika is “delighted”.

“The sitting with the team of experts was a special experience and I look forward to the incredible figure at the attraction,” the actress said in a statement.

Rhea’s judicial custody extended till Oct 6

Actor-model Rhea Chakraborty will remain in jail with a Mumbai court on Tuesday extending her judicial custody by another fortnight.

Couple of weeks ago, Rhea was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly sourcing and purchasing drugs for her live-in partner and actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The 28-year-old actor was produced before the Magistrate’s court through video-conference from the Byculla Women’s Prison, on expiry of her judicial remand.

Meanwhile, Rhea and her brother Showik moved the Bombay High Court for bail. Rhea and Showik’s counsel Satish Maneshinde said that the bail plea would be heard on Wednesday

Marathi actress Ashalata no more

Mumbai, Sep 22 (IANS): Veteran actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar, who was reportedly suffering from Covid-19, died in the early hours of Tuesday after a four-day battle with her illness at a private hospital in Satara.

She was 79 and had been hospitalised in a critical condition last weekend. The end came at the hospital.

Former Chief Minister of Goa, Digambar Kamat, confirmed the news in a tweet, paying tribute to the Goa-born actress.

“Deeply pained by the passing away of acclaimed Goan Artist Ashalata Wabgaonkar. Her splendid performances in theatre & films will keep inspiring the generations to come. My condolences to her family & fans. May her soul rest in peace,” Kamat tweeted.

Ashalata worked in over 100 Hindi and Marathi films. Her notable Hindi films include “Apne Paraye”, “Ankush”, “Woh 7 Din”, “Ahista Ahista”, “Shaukeen”, and “Namak Halal”. Her Marathi films include “Umbartha”, “Sutradhar”, and “Vahinichi Maya”.

Ashalata had acted in theatre too, notably the Marathi plays “Chinna”, “Gunata Hridhya He”, and “Varyavarchi Varaat”.

She also authored a book, “Gard Sabhowati”.

Ashalata reportedly contracted Covid-19 a week ago while shooting for a mythological show.

Los Angeles, Sep 21 : Actress Salma Hayek says her daughter Valentina came into her life as her greatest teacher and joy.

Hayek marked her daughter’s 13th birthday by sharing a photo of herself along with Valentina as a baby on Instagram.

“Valentina, I never wished for someone to exist as much as I wished for you to come into my life. Thank you for showing up thirteen years ago on a day like today, “Peace Day”, to illuminate our lives. You are my greatest teacher, my greatest joy and my greatest hope. I loved you before you were born and I’ll love you forever. Happy birthday, my shining star,” Salma wrote.

The actress had confirmed her engagement to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault as well as her pregnancy in March 2007. She gave birth to daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault in Los Angeles and got married to Francois-Henri on Valentine’s Day 2009 in Paris.

Salma was 41 when she gave birth to Valentina and doesn’t regret being an older mom.

“I’m glad I didn’t have her earlier. I’m a better person because I got to do a lot of things that were important to me first,” she told The Telegraph in an interview.
