New Delhi, 25th September: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Monday (25th September) launched ONGC’s Deendayal Urja Bhawan and launched Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Yojna Saubhagya Yojana during a programme to ensure electrification of every willing household.
Under the scheme some focussed states are Bihar, UP, MP, Orrisa, Jammu Kasmir, Jharkhand, North Eastern states and Rajasthan. Under the scheme the government will provide 5 LED lights, a DC fan, one DC power plug and a security service of all these for five years in faraway villages of above mentioned states.
16320 crore rupees has been accounted for Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Yojna Saubhagya Yojana, for electrification of Urban areas 2295 rupees are allocated meanwhile for rural areas this amount is 14025 crore.
The central government will provide 60 percent of the budget, states will have to contribute 10 percent and the remaining 30 percent will come from bank loans. The scheme aims to electrify every house of the country till March 31st 2019.
Narendra Modi in his speech on inauguartion function of Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Yojna Saubhagya Yojana said that It is surprising that 4 crore houses of the country are still without electricity. Women are forced to stay inside their houses due to lack of electricity. We promise to deliver electricity to every single house of the country.
While pointing out the importance of power sector PM Modi said, “today modern techniques, faith and sprituality are illuminating due to the power sector.”
In my speech on Independence day on 15th August 2015 I promised to illuminate 18000 villages out which only 3000 villages are left.
In ‘New India’ every house of the country will have electricity, Modi claimed.
We are heading towards Bijli Surplus from Bijli Sankat, Modi said in his inaugurating speech.
PM Narendra Modi has also constituted an Economic Advisory Council with Bibek Debroy as it’s Chairman.
