Mumbai, Oct 20: The first trailer of wrestling biopic Dangal has been released on Thursday.
Aamir in the movie plays wrestler Mahavir Phogat. Phogat is both a young man and middle-aged father, longs to train his son to be a wrestler like him. The trailer begins with Phogat hoping that a son will be born, who will win a gold medal for the country someday. But then he gets 4 daughters instead.
In the heartland of Haryana, Mahavir Phogat’s gold medal hopes seem dashed until one fine day when he realizes that “choriyan choro se kam nahi.” Heavily-bearded Aamir trains his two daughters Geeta and Babita, played by actresses Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, for the Dangal of their life.
Dangal is not just about wrestling but also tells you how to overcome prejudice, societal pressure and conventional beliefs about traditional notions of gender.
It will hit theatres on December 23. The film is produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Disney’s Siddharth Roy Kapur and directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
