Ahmedabad, Oct 2, 2017: Members belonging from Rajput community allegedly thrashed two Dalit men for “sporting a moustache” in two separate incidents in a village near Gandhinagar in Gujarat on Sunday.
The incidents occurred on September 25 and September 29 at Limbodara village in Kalol taluka of Gandhinagar district.
In the September 29 incident, Krunal Maheria, a law student, was allegedly beaten up by one Bharatsinh Vaghela. In his complaint to the Kalol taluka police, Maheria claimed that Vaghela assaulted him for sporting a moustache.
Police have lodged a complaint with under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 323 — punishment for voluntarily causing hurt and added that “Vaghela has been arrested.”
In the second incident, Parmar had alleged that some Rajput men from the village beat him up for his moustache. On the day he was returning home after a garba programme. No arrests have been made in the attack.
