Cyclone Ockhi: Indian Navy conducts search and rescue operation of missing fishermen

Kerala, Dec 2: Indian Navy is conducting search and rescue operation of missing fishermen off the Kerala Coast after the cyclone Ockhi wrecked havoc in Kerala.

Two fishing boats Arokia Mary and Hermen Mary from Kanyakumari which were reported missing due Cyclone Ockhi since 30 Nov 2017 with 08 crew each rescued by Coast Guard Ship C-427 off Vizhinjam Yesterday.

At least 130 families from Chellanam, 17 families from Kumbalangi and 18 families from Edavanakad rehabilitated from the coastal areas.

Several persons were killed on Thursday after cyclonic storm Ockhi hit the southern districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu due to a depression formed over southwest Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lankan coast.

In Tamil Nadu, Heavy rain lashed Tirunelveli following which Traffic halted on the Karupanthurai – Melapalyam link road as the low-lying bridge was submerged in Thamirabarani river.
