New Delhi, Aug 4 : The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met under the chairmanship of Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday and decided to target the Narendra Modi government on the issues of corruption and its “failure” to provide jobs to the youth.
Gandhi indicated that the party will launch a campaign against the Modi government ahead of the assembly polls later this year and the Lok Sabha polls next year.
“The CWC met today (Saturday). As a team, we discussed the political situation in the country and the huge opportunity for the Congress to highlight issues of corruption and failure of the government to provide jobs to our youth. Thank you to all those who attended today’s meeting,” Gandhi said in a tweet.
Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said “Issues of NRC Draft Bill, corruption, bank fraud cases and Rafale deal were were among the issues that featured prominently at the CWC meeting.”
“Discussions were held on the issue of unemployment. We have also started preparations for upcoming elections in four states,” Gehlot added.
he Congress President also chalked out a strategy to confront the BJP’s immoral design of giving the NRC issue a communal angle to create a Hindu-Muslim divide so as to get political dividends in the upcoming Assembly and lok Sabha elections.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi chaired his second Congress Working Committee on Saturday to discuss the present political situation in India and the NRC ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has skipped Saturday’s meeting of the Congress Working Committee , due to health issues.
Senior party leader Ahmed Patel tweeted: “Not guts but greed for power, driving them to polarise India over NRC.” He said it was the Congress that shows the guts even at the risk of losing polls.
“Rajivji championed Assam & Punjab accords, knowing it will adversely affect party’s chances in polls. Earlier INC sacrificed its govt in J&K for peace. Legacy of Congress is to keep nation before party. This is guts,” Ahmed Patel added.
The preparations for the Assembly polls in four states that are due this year and the issue of alliances for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were also discussed.The members of the new CWC are: Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Motilal Vora, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, Oommen Chandy, Tarun Gogoi, Siddaramaiah, Anand Sharma, Harish Rawat, Kumari Selja, Mukul Wasnik, Avinash Pande, K C Venugopal, Dipak Babaria, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Raghuveer Meena, Gaikhangam and Ashok Gehlot.
