New Delhi, May 24, 2017: An Inspector General of Police with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has alleged in a report that an encounter conducted by security forces in which two National Democratic Front of Bodoland terrorists were killed in Assam was fake.

Gujarat cadre IPS officer Rajnish Rai, currently posted in Shillong, has raised several questions regarding the encounter, which was carried out as a joint operation by the Army, the Assam police, the CRPF and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Chirang district of Assam in the early hours of March 30 this year.

He has also written to the chief secretary of Assam.

In his report sent to the CRPF headquarters in Delhi, Rai, has alleged that the encounter near Simlaguri village under Amguri police station that led to the death of two suspected members of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) or NDFB(S) faction, was staged.

The reports say the two men had been picked up earlier in D-Kalling village and killed in cold blood in Simlaguri.
