Lucknow, Aug 22, 2016: Darul Uloom in Deoband city of Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, on Monday has ruled that the use of any commodity which has cow urine is prohibited in Islam. Darul Uloom is one of the oldest Islamic school in India.

A person asked a query regarding the products of Patanjali the brand of yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The Deoband school then responded that the products which had “declared contents of urine of cow” were najayaz (unlawful) in Islam.

A commoner had asked the Darul Ifta department about the sanctity of such Use. The school, in its response on 18th August, clarified that while other products of Patanjali could be used, any product which declares that it had cow urine in it, should not be used by Muslims, as it was in breach of the principle of the religion.
