Jitender Yadav, a gym trainer was shot by Uttar Pradesh police on Saturday night after he was returning from a marriage. The family of the 25 year old has accused that it was a fake encounter and alleged that it was done because of their caste.

The man is currently admitted at Fortis, where heavy security is deployed at present.

Whereas the SSP, Love Kumar in a press conference while denying fake encounter stated, “Prima facie it looks like case of personal enmity. During the probe it was found that the trainee sub-inspector knew the elder brother of the man who was shot.”

He also informed that the 4 policemen have been suspended with immediate effect. “We have seized service revolver of the sub-inspector who fired the gun shots and sent him to jail,” he added.

Besides sending the accused trainee sub-inspector to jail, the role of other three policemen, two constables and a sub-inspector, is being investigated. All four of them remain suspended

Staff communicated to me that there had been some argument with the man (who was shot) during which the sub-inspector shot at him and they are taking him to the hospital, SSP Love Kumar informed.

When asked about the encounter of the gym trainer the Uttar Pradesh minister Swatantra Dev Singh said that his government would not pardon any convict. “One who is guilty will die.”

“Means Law will take every necessary action against the culprits,” he added.
