Lucknow, Sep 3: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday came out in support of party MP Azam Khan in connection with Mohammad Ali Jauhar University land case and said that Khan is “wrongfully implicated” in the land-grab cases and his party will start a campaign against the conspirators who are trying to malign him.
Keeping away from media for almost two years due to health issues, Mulayam chose to address a press conference to show how deep is his three-decade-old relationship with Azam Khan, Mulayam heaped praised on Khan saying “he’s worked diligently as a politician all his life”.
Indirectly attacking Yogi Adityanath government for defaming Samajwadi party and Azam Khan, Mulayam said, “Azam Khan has fought for the poor and downtrodden all through his life. I appeal all the workers and leaders of Samajwadi Party to stand in his support. I will myself lead this agitation.”
Azam Khan is embroiled in cases of alleged land grabbing, theft and encroachment cases. The septuagenarian leader asserted Azam was being “wrongfully implicated” in the land-grab cases registered against Jauhar Univesity.
Mulayam wondered why dozens of cases were slapped against Azam Khan for a matter of two bigha land.
On cases filed against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in connection with Mohammad Ali Jauhar University land case, Mulayam Singh Yadav said , “It is a conspiracy against Azam Khan, I appeal to all workers and leaders of the party to come out in his support and we will start a campaign.”
Emphasizing that donations have been procured lawfully for the university which is for the downtrodden, Mulayam said, “Our colleague Azam Khan has made University from donations. He has been devoted to the cause of education. He bought several 100 acres of land. He can’t usurp even 2 bigha land. How can he be a criminal?: “Donations for the University was procured lawfully.”
