Congress working committee passes resolution to elevate Rahul Gandhi party President

New Delhi, Nov 20: The Congress Working Committee on Monday passed resolution to elevate Rahul Gandhi as party President. 

The notification for President poll will be issued on December 1 and last date for filing the nomination is December 4.

Voting will take place 16th December and Counting on 19th December.

In case there is no candidate apart from Rahul Gandhi, the Congress will announce his candidature on the last date of scrutiny.

The decision took place in the high level meeting at party president Sonia Gandhi’s residence 10 Janpath here, which was attended by  former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party’s other top leaders.

Sonia Gandhi is the longest serving president of the party and assumed the office in 1998.
