Congress will give up to Rs 5,000 to unemployed youth, homes to poor: Ashok Gehlot

New Delhi, Oct 23: The AICC general secretary in-charge of Gujarat  Ashok Gehlot said if voted to power, the Congress government will give monthly financial allowances to the educated unemployed youth and provide free shelter to the poor. 

In an interview with Economics Times, Gehlot came up with this statement when asked about the major issues for congress to contest this election. Asserting, the party is placing before the people a credible plank for development of the entire society, he added  If voted to power, the Congress government will provide the educated unemployed youth with monthly unemployment allowances that will be go up to Rs 5,000 depending on the qualification.

For betterment of the farmers, he stated the Congress government will waive off their entire debt and also increase the minimum support price.

Speaking on Patel community’s demand for reservation, Gehlot said he is in favor of a separate quota apart from the existing quota for OBCs, SCs and STs for the economically underprivileged sections among the general category communities.

“The Congress manifesto drafting committee is considering the proposal for an additional quota for the economically backward sections in the general category communities”, he asserted.

Responding to Congress’ take on the BJP’s development plank, Gehlot said the Modi model of development is a mere hollow marketing trick and stands exposed . It befitted only a few sections, especially some industrialists.

When asked about Chief Ministerial candidate of Congress, he stated it will be elected by our party legislators after the election results.
