Udaipur : Congress leader and former union minister Kapil Sibal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should change his slogan ‘Na Khaaunga Na Khaane Dunga’ to an updated one ‘ Na Bataunga Na Batane Dunga’. Sibal was referring to the Rafale deal which has landed the BJP government in a controversy.
The senior leader who was on a brief visit to Udaipur city on Saturday met the media and took a dig on Modi government for being mysterious and confusing the nation with deluge of misleading information rather than giving a straight forward answers on all the questions being raised.
”When the UPA govt revealed the price of the 126 Rafales when it committed for the deal in 2012, why can’t the BJP government disclose the price now? When we finalised the deal it was decided that 108 Rafales would be made by the HAL and 18 readymade fighters would be purchased which was estimated to cost the nation around 560 crore rupees, but Modi intervened and decided to buy 36 ready-to-fly fighters instead of acquiring technology from Dassault and make it in the country. Sibal took a potshot on the government and said Modi unilaterally decided to scrap a deal without referring the matter to the cabinet committee on security. ”
This has happened first time in the country when the prime minister bypassed the formal and official procedure to conduct affairs regarding purchase of fighter planes and didn’t maintain transparency of the deal” Sibal said. ”No one except Modi, not even the defence minister, Dassault company or the HAL knew that such a deal was going to happen. Congress will dig deep into the scam and expose the government before the nation” he added.
