New Delhi, July 14 :The Congress party took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his views on arrest of ‘dear friend’ Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Saturday.
Congress asked Modi, what he had to say about the arrest of his ‘dear friend’ Nawaz Sharif, who was arrested yesterday after returning to Pakistan . Sharif along with SAARC leaders had attended Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in 2004.
Congress’ official Twitter handle also tweeted a 2015 photograph of PM Modi and Sharif, smiling and walking hand in hand.

In its tweet, the Congress said, “Nawaz Sharif has been arrested on corruption charges. We’d like to know what his dear friend, PM Modi has to say about this.”
In December 2015, Prime Minister Modi, in a goodwill gesture, had famously attended the birthday celebrations of Nawaz Sharif as well as the wedding of his granddaughter .
However, their ‘bonhomie’ had come to an end after Pakistan-based terrorists attacked the Uri camp base in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016, which led to the death of 18 soldiers.
