Congress MLA, 14 councillors join BJP in Manipur

Imphal, April 18 : Congress MLA Ginsuahau Zou and 14 councillors from the party have joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Manipur.

Welcoming them at the BJP office on Monday evening, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said some more Congress MLAs would join the ruling party soon.

Ginsuahau represents Singhat constituency in the state assembly. The Congress councillors are members of the Autonomous District Council in Chandel.

Another Congress MLA, T. Shyamkumar, had joined the BJP after the latter took power in the state. Shyamkumar was sworn in as a cabinet minister.

The BJP won 21 of the 60 seats in the house but formed a government with the help of smaller parties. The Congress had bagged 28 seats.

PM Modi turns blind eye to anarchy in Delhi: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, June 18: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the BJP for their protests leading to a stalemate in the national capital, while accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ignoring the crisis.

Gandhi tweeted “Delhi CM, sitting in Dharna at LG office. BJP sitting in Dharna at CM residence. Delhi bureaucrats addressing press conferences. PM turns a blind eye to the anarchy; rather nudges chaos and disorder”.

“People of Delhi are the victims, as this drama plays out,” he added.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday continued his sit-in protest at the Lt. Governor’s residence for straight eight days in a row, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “give a nod” to the IAS officers to end their strike.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday also continued its counter-protest against Kejriwal’s stir.

Manish Sisodia hospitalised

New Delhi, June 18: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was on hunger strike since June 13, was admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital in the national capital on Monday following a failing health, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.

“Sisodia being shifted to hospital,” Kejriwal tweeted.

According to the reports, Sisodia’s ketone level reached 7.4, following which the decision was taken to move him to a hospital.

Late on Sunday night, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who was also on an indefinite hunger since June 12, was also shifted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital due to deteriorating health.

In another tweet on Monday, Kejriwal said that Jain “is doing well”.

Kejriwal along with his cabinet colleague have been camping in the Raj Niwas, since June 11 protesting against IAS officers on de facto strike and seeking approval to the Delhi government’s proposal to supply ration to the poor at their houses.

Ram Madhav’s close aide quits BJP

New Delhi, June 18: As 2019 Lok Sabha elections are approaching, the resignation of a BJP member and close aide of party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav, Shivam Shankar Singh, has created a political buzz.

Singh, who worked closely with Madhav was a key member of the saffron party.

On Sunday, he wrote a post explaining several issues that led him to leave the BJP.

In his blog, Singh cited various key points such as Electoral Bonds , Demonetisation , Misuse of CBI and ED (the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate, Planning Commission Reports, GST, Petrol and Diesel price hike , messed-up foreign policy and others, that forced him to take a bold step of resignation.

Meanwhile reacting to Singh’s resignation General Secretary AICC, Ashok Gehlot said it is an eye-opener for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Blog of Shivam Shankar Singh who supported BJP for many years n has quit it now is an eye opener for BJP. Its own ppl are fed up wd BJP’s propaganda, politics of hate, fake news, religious agenda, Polarization, National-Antinational, India-Pakistan debates”, Gehlot tweeted.

By profession, Singh is a data scientist. After studying economics at the University of Michigan, he returned to India and joined the BJP in 2013 to work for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election campaign.
