Karnataka Election: JD(S) accepts Congress’ support

Bengaluru, May 15: In a major twist to the crucial Karnataka assembly elections, the Congress offered support to JD(S) to form a government in the state.

Speaking to media, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G. Parameshwara said “We accept the mandate of the people. We bow our heads to the verdict. We don’t have numbers to form govt. The Congress has offered to support JD(S) to form the government”.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad informed media persons about a telephonic conversation with Deve Gowda and Kumaraswam.

“They have accepted our offer. Hopefully, we will be together”, he added.

Reacting to this, JD(S) leader Danish Ali said ” JD(S) had always maintained that HD Kumaraswamy will be CM. As per results, we’re doing everything to keep BJP out of power. Congress has extended its support, we have accepted it. We will jointly go to meet Governor after 5.30 pm today”.
