Prime Minister Narendra Modi deliberately omitted the name of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru though he was a prominent leader in the Quit India movement and RSS didn’t play any role in that historic movement. But strangely the present government has created an atmosphere of hatred and political vendetta which is amply clear from the actions of the Modi government by deliberately omitting the names of previous prime ministers who contributed for the progress , development and betterment of the country.
Indirectly attacking Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, Sonia Gandhi aptly said “Pandit Nehru spent several years in jail, many Congress workers died in jail and we must not forget that some organizations opposed Quit India Movement, such organisations have no role in freedom struggle.”
But RSS thinker Rakesh Sinha said the Congress President must have also forgotten the valiant efforts of leaders like Subhash Chandra Bose. “RSS actively supported the freedom struggle despite having ideological differences with the Congress. The Sangh never advocated the two-nation theory.”
It is a travesty of facts to mention that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose remained as the President of Congress in 1938 and 1939 and he represented the young wing of the Indian National Congress in the Late 1920s and 1930s and nothing to do with the RSS-BJP ideology.
Significantly RSS played no role in the Freedom Struggle and to say that RSS supported Congress is a falsification of history even Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who integrated princely states with India, jailed the RSS persons in bulk for anti national activities. Sardar Patel was a Congress leader but the RSS and the BJP have tried to exploit the known differences between Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru and are trying to appropriate him as with BJP.
It is pertinent to mention that Patel said at a Congress meet on December 17, 1949, in Jaipur that any organisation seeking to supplant the National Flag by another would be sternly dealt with.
“Sardar Patel, who vehemently condemned the activities of the RSS, was loudly cheered at the conclusion of his speech,” says a newspaper report of the event, reproduced in Vol. XIII of the Collected Works of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, edited by P.N. Chopra and Prabha Chopra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded in the Lok Sabha that while the clarion call in the 1942 Quit India Movement was ‘karenge ya marenge’, today it is ‘karenge aur kar ke rahenge’.This time PM Modi described his actions in accordance with his approach as during the elections whenever there is a hung assembly or Congress getting a majority vote, BJP indulges in defection politics also termed as Power in Partnership the plight of such power in partnership is well known in Kashmir where Kashmiris stand alienated and are on the verge of virtual secession. BJP government was installed in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Goa inspite of the fact that BJP was in minority but defection was engineered.
Moreover,Opposition Congress had claimed that MLAs in Gujarat were offered Rs 15 Crore in return for support to BJP in Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections and the timely action by the Election Commission resulting in declaring Ahmad Patel elected to the Rajya Sabha despite BJP’s perverted arguments and conspiracies is a clear slap on the face of BJP’s leadership.
