Communal clash in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur, Case registered against 300

Shahjahanpur, Aug 26: Tension  is prevailing in in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh after  a girl  who was  selling rakhis outside a Gurudwara was beaten up which led to a clash between Hindu and Sikh communities.

The incident took place on August 25, when a 14-year-old girl was setting up a cart to sell ‘rakhis’ in Banda area, which was objected by the watchman.When she refused, the security guard reportedly hit the minor with a stick on her leg.

As the news of the incident spread, a number of people from both the communities (Hindus and Sikhs) reached at the spot and engaged into stone pelting. Several vehicles were also damaged.

The information reached the office of Sub-divisional Magistrate and then the District Magistrate along with  police officials rushed to the spot.

As per the reports, police used tear gas  and resorted to lathi-charge to control the situation.

The police has registered cases against 300 persons , according to ABP reports.
