New Delhi, Jan 22: The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra will hear on Monday two petitions seeking an independent the death of Special CBI Court judge B.M. Loya who was holding the trial in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case.
The two other judges in CJI’s bench are Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AM Khanwilkar. On Saturday, the bench had taken over the case and fixed the date of hearing.
The supplementary cause list issued last week lists the pleas filed by social activist Tehseen Poonawala and Maharashtra-based journalist Bandhuraj Sambhaji Lone before the bench of Chief Justice Misra.
Prior to this, the two petitions were being heard by the bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra.
The allocation of Judge Loya’s matter to a relatively junior bench was one of the key of contention raised by top most four judges in their unprecedented presser, that took place on January 12.
