“The cases are extremely high this year. On an average, more than 15-20 fresh patients are visiting the out-patient department in our hospital every day. The trend is worrying this year as more and more people are testing positive for chikungunya,” said a senior doctor of the hospital, requesting anonymity.
In 2015, the city witnessed 15,867 cases of dengue and 64 chikungunya cases. Chikungunya and dengue have claimed at least 34 lives so far this year.

The sudden spike of Chikungunya is creating a fear in the heart of people. Despite this crucial condition, the Government is not taking enough initiative to keep the city clean.
