Chinmayanand case: Uttar Pradesh has nothing to do with women’s security, says Priyanka Gandhi

New Delhi, Sep 13 : Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government over Shahjahanpur rape case in which saffron party leader and former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand has been accused of raping a law student saying that the party has nothing to do with women security.

Tweeting in Hindi, Priyanka said, “The BJP government of Uttar Pradesh through its deeds has proved that it has to do nothing with the women security. Why the complainant girl has to beg for help for the second time in front of the press? Why is UP police so slow? Because the accused is related to BJP?” tweeted Priyanka Gandhi.

An SIT was formed on the directions of the Supreme Court in the first week of September to investigate the case. No FIR has been filed against him.

In another tweet on Wednesday, the Congress leader attacjed Yogi Adityanath government In the wake of an FIR filed against a reporter in Mirzapur.

Priyanka wrote on Twitter, “Patrakar kewal aankh par patti bandh kar waah-waahi ke liye nahi hotey. Unka kaam hota hai janta ke muddon par khabrein banana aur sarkar se jawab lena… Lekin Uttar Pradesh BJP sarkar aise patrakaron par lagatar hamla bol rahi hai. Kya BJP ko aam janta ke muddon ka dar satta raha hai (Journalists are not for just to praise by wearing blindfolds. Their job is to raise the issue of public and question the government. But the BJP government is constantly targeting such journalists. Is the BJP government troubled with the issues of the common people).”

Their job is to make news on public issues and seek answers from the government. But the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously attacking such journalists.
