Child Trafficking Case: Bengal CID summons Roopa Ganguly, Kailash Vijayvargiya

Kolkata, July 21: West Bengal CID on Thursday summoned BJP MP Roopa Ganguly, Kailash Vijayvargiya along with two other leaders in connection with an alleged child trafficking case.

“A notice has been sent to Kailash Vijayvargiya and Roopa Ganguly and two others in connection with the case,” a senior Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer told PTI.

“Vijayavargiya has been summoned to appear before our officers on July 24 while we will visit Ganguly’s residence for questioning on July 29,” he stated.

Earlier this year in February, the CID busted a racket that flourished in north Bengal, which illegally sell babies in the name of adoption. Co-incidentally the state BJP Mahila Morcha secretaries, Juhi Chowdhury was arrested over this and was sent to judicial custody.

Following this, BJP sacked Chowdhury from all the posts.

CID officers claimed that the names of Roopa Ganguly and Kailash Vijayvargiya came into the limelight during interrogation of the prime accused Chandana Chakraborty, who used to run a childcare home in Jalpaiguri.
