Bijapur, Oct 27: Five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans have lost their lives and two injured in a landmine blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on Saturday.
“Four Central Reserve Police Force personnel (one ASI, one head-constable, two constables of 168 battalion) lost their lives in an IED blast in Awapalli Police Station area(Bijapur)”, DIG (Anti-Naxal Operation) P Sundar Raj told media.
According to the reports, the incident took place troops of B/168 Battalion were out for AD duty (from Murdanda towards Timapur) wherein Maoists fired upon them followed by IED blast targeting the BP Bunker.
Injured have been admitted to nearby hospital.
Chhattisgarh is scheduled to vote on November 12 and 20 in two phases.
