Chhattisgarh: BJP Dantewada MLA killed in Naxal Attack

Dantewada, April 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bheema Mandavi and four others were killed after his convoy was attacked by Naxals in Dantewada on Tuesday.

P Sundar Raj, DIG-Anti-Naxal Operations confirmed about the incident.

“We have information of BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi, his driver and 3 PSOs getting killed in IED blast in Dantewada, today evening”, Raj told media.

“It was a powerful IED blast. Bodies to be evacuated at the earliest for identification”.

Maoists exploded an improvised explosive device (IED) between Kuakonta and Syamgiri.

Mandavi was the lone BJP MLA from Bastar region which accounts for 12 Assembly constituencies.

The attack came two days before the start of the Lok Sabha elections.
