New Delhi: Congress has opposed the Modi government’s proposal to change the RTI Act rules. The Congress has questioned the government’s proposed rules and expressed doubts over the government’s intentions. Senior Congress party leader Ahmed Patel took to twitter on Monday and asked, “What are the motives behind the changes in RTI rules”.? Providing Information to the public or to scare it?

Significantly, the proposed rules for considerations of applications and related complaints and appeals filed under the Right to Information Act have been put on the DOPT’s website by the government, and has asked the public for suggestions till April 15th.
RTI worker Commodore (retired) Lokesh Batra said, “The time frame for inviting suggestions from public is very short. There was No official press release in this regard.How would people know that something like this has been put on the website asking for their opinion?
