The central government has removed the income ceiling of Rs. 5 Lakh per annum to benefit inter caste marriage couples to get an amount of rupees 2.5 Lakh as per the scheme for eliminating the social boundaries.
The scheme was started in 2013 with a target to provide monetary incentive to atleast 500 inter caste couples under the name of ‘Dr. Ambedkar scheme for social Integration through inter caste marriage’.
Initialy the scheme benefited the intercaste couple with income less than 5 lakh per annum but now the ceiling has been removed by the central government.
According to The Indian Express Report an official from Social Justice and Empowerment ministry said,” “Many states that have similar schemes do not have an income limit; so the Centre too decided it to remove it.”
The ministry also informed that to get the benefit under this scheme the couples would have to provide information about their aadhaar linked bank account.
