New Delhi, Aug 25: Lord Ganesha loves modaks and ladoos. People in Maharashtra prepare modaks on the Ganesh Chaturthi, mostly on the first day of the festival.

Different types of ladoos like steamed ladoo, besan ladoo, boondi ladoo, mango ladoo prepare as a Bhog.

1. Ukadiche or Steamed Modak:

Ukadiche Modak is one of the most popular modak receipe made during Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Maharashtra. These modaks made from rice flour which are steamed.

2. Puran poli:

Puran Poli is famous among maharashtrans during Ganesh Chaturthi and Diwali as well. It is a flat bread stuffed with sweet lentils, chana dal and jaggery.

3. Coconut ladoo:

Coconut ladoos are delicious for those who love coconut dishes. Only three ingredients are required- condensed milk, coconut powder and powdered sugar.

4. Besan ladoo:

Chickpea flour balls spiced with cardamon and dry fruits on the top. They are tasty sweet to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.

5. Patholi:

Patholi are steamed rice rolls filled with jaggery and coconut. It makes the festival very special.

6. Sooji halwa:

Classic dish made with sooji, ghee, sugar and dry fruits. You can add saffron and milk to enhance the taste.

7. Rice kheer:

Popular India dessert made with basmati rice, milk, saffron and nuts. It is a time consuming recipe but the result will be awesome.

8. Shrikhand:

Shrikhand is a sweet which is little tangy in taste made with hung curd, saffron and cardamon.
