Srinagar, June 16: Amid Eid ul-Fitr celebrations, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera Sector on Saturday, during which an Indian Army Jawan was martyred.

Sepoy Bikas Gurung lost his life during the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Nowshera, ANI reported.

Earlier in a day, due to continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, there was no exchange of sweets between the Border Security Force troops and the Pakistani Rangers at Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

Pakistan has violated ceasefire multiple times in the past few months.

Recently on June 13, Four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel including an Assistant Commandant were killed by Pakistani Rangers in Samba district.

Assistant Commandant Jatinder Singh, Sub-Inspector Rajnish Kumar, ASI Ram Niwas and Constable Hans Raj were killed in unprovoked shelling and firing by Pakistan Rangers.

Earlier last month, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held talks on the issue of ceasefire violations and terrorist activities.

Both the sides agreed to fully implement the ceasefire understanding of 2003, to ensure that firing will not be violated by both sides.
