CBI conducts raids BJD MP’s residence in Seashore Chit Fund Scam

Bhubaneswar, Jan 12, 2017: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted raids at 25 places in and outside Odisha including houses of ruling Biju Janata Dal MP Rabindra Jena in connection with the Seashore Group chit fund scam.

They also raided offices & residences of BJD MLA Pravat Biswal and BJD leader Saroj Sahu.

The agency had on January 9 issued the notice to the MP asking him to appear before it on January 12.

Jena had earlier presented himself before the CBI on December 10 last year after being summoned and was questioned for several hours over his alleged links with the chit fund company.

Delhi experiences hottest day of season at 46 deg C

The national capital recorded the hottest day of the season yesterday with the mercury touching 44.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, as recorded in the Palam observatory.

New Delhi, May 22 : Delhi on Tuesday recorded its hottest day of the season so far with the maximum temperature in the capital city shooting up to 46 degrees Celsius, six degrees above the normal.

The weather office said that the maximum temperature recorded at the Palam Observatory was 46 degree C.

However, the Safdarjung observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, four degrees above the normal.

In the morning, the minimum temperature recorded at the Safdarjung observatory was 26.2 degrees Celsius, the Met Department said. However, the minimum recorded by Palam observatory was 27.4 Degree C, one degree above normal.

The Met Department has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundery development on Wednesday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 44 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

Sunny Tuesday morning, Delhiites likely to witness strong surface winds

New Delhi, May 22: It was a sunny morning in the national capital on Tuesday with the minimum temperature recorded at 26.2 degrees Celsius, normal for the season’s average.

The Met forecast strong surface winds for the day ahead.

“The sky will be mainly clear and the city is likely to witness strong surface winds during the day,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 45 per cent.

According to the Met Department, the maximum temperature will hover around 43 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, The maximum temperature was settled at 41.8 degree Celsius, two notches above the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season’s average.
