CBI Chargesheet against Chidambaram will meet the same fate as Maran brothers :Kapil Sibal

Kapil Sibal

New Delhi, July 19 : Senior Congress Leader Kapil Sibal on Thursday said  the charge-sheet filed by CBI in Aircel Maxis case in which P Chidambaram has been named as co-accused, will meet the same fate as Maran brothers.

Sibal said, “What do you expect from the government  and the CBI.The charge-sheet will meet the same fate as other charge-sheets of CBI. They tried to prosecute the Maran brothers in 2G case, remember what happened to the 2G case, it also resulted in acquittal of Former Telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran and his brother Kalanithi Maran.”

“The same thing will happen here, this is just a way to harass people and to persecute people it has nothing to do with Majesty of law, this act of theirs is like denigrating law.”

The way CBI  and the government have been promoting propaganda in 2014 about the presumptive loot and loss and bribe but they were not having evidence .Judge said he kept on waiting for the evidence but nothing came out, it is a way to  malign people and the result will be in front of you,” Sibal added.

Meanwhile, former finance minister P Chidambaram said, ” CBI has been pressured to file a charge sheet to support a preposterous allegation against me and officers with a sterling reputation. The case is now before the Hon’ble Court and it will be contested vigorously. I shall make no more public comment.”

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed a fresh charge-sheet in Aircel Maxis case in Delhi’s Patiala House Court.

Indicating the manner in which CBI is working, Sibal said, ” CBI is now targeting against Farroq Abdullah and Lalu Yadav.”
