New Delhi, July 4: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took potshots at the ambitious bullet train project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling it a magic train that will never be constructed under the BJP rule.

“It will never be constructed if at all it is ever made it is going to be in Congress regime”., he added.
Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe launched the bullet train project. This March, an official said work was in full swing. He stated a process had been initiated to acquire land, and that the designing of bridges and tunnels was in progress.
But in June, a Reuters report said — citing government officials — that India was set to miss a December deadline to acquire land for the project, because of protests by fruit growers.
Following the public gathering, Rahul who is on a two-day visit to Amethi, met the family of the deceased farmer Abdul Sattar in Dhingai village in Jayas area.
Sattar lost his life allegedly after waiting for two days to sell his produce at a local government crop purchase centre.
