Bulandshahr, Dec 3 : In a shocking development, a senior police officer has been killed by a violent mob protesting against alleged cow slaughter or slaughter houses in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Monday.The violent mob attacked a police station in Shyana and set a police van on fire.The deceased inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was the Investigating Officer in the 2015 Mohammad Akhlaq lynching case.
“It has been clarified that Subodh Kumar Singh (who died during the Bulandshahr violence today) was the Investigating officer in the Akhlaq lynching case in Dadri from 28 September 2015 to 9 November 2015. A charge-sheet was filled in the case by a different IO in March 2016,” Anand Kumar, Additional Director General (Law and Order), told reporters.
Violence broke out in Bulandshahr over protests against alleged illegal slaughterhouses in the area in which two people were killed , including Subodh Kumar and a civilian, after clashes broke out between protesters and cops.
The District Magistrate stated that the protests began after a group of people reportedly found the purported carcass of a cow in the field and blocked a road in the area.
