Parliament

New Delhi, Feb 5: As budget session entered to its fourth day, Rajya Sabha witnessed disruption after the Samajwadi Party (SP) members created a ruckus over the alleged fake encounter case in Uttar Pradesh.

Both the Houses of the Parliament were adjourned just a little while after the proceedings had begun.

Rajya Sabha adjourned amid uproar by Samajwadi Party (SP) members, While Lok Sabha adjourned for the day after paying homage to sitting member HukumSingh.

Later in a day, the upper house discussed  the vote of thanks to President’s joint session address introduced by BJP President Amit Shah.

Ahead of proceedings, the Congress MP Rajni Patil also gave zero hour notice in Rajya Sabha over the issue of 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assembly.

Updates:

Rajya Sabha

He stated, return us our old Bharat, we do not need your New India, we need Gandhi’s India where Hindu and Muslim were together. Return us the India, where a four-month-old child is not raped. Return us our old India.

Skill India has become Kill India, Azad said adding that all such terms sound good on paper and on TV, but they do not have any substance.

The Congress leader also raised the issue of triple talaq. He asserted we are in support with this but it has two parts one with good intention which talks about banning instant triple talaq and we support it.

But, when it comes to the second part which talks about sentencing the husband under a criminal act, we do not support this part. You first divided Shia Sunni by your polarisation, now you are dividing husband and wife.

On Kashmir issue, Azad said you have criticised us in strong terms, but compared to the situation now, our government was much much better. The most number of Indian soldiers have lost their life under BJP rule, without a war. I had visited Jammu a few days back, the situation of the people there is sad to see.

Targeting Modi government on crime against women in various states, such as Haryana, UP, etc, Azad stated even 8-month-old infant is being raped – what kind of “New India” is this? Even our capital is so unsafe. During the UPA govt, we brought is stringent laws in response to Nirbhaya case. What have you done?

Azad, while discussing the vote of thanks, the Congress stated that this government (BJP)  has failed to control petrol and diesel prices despite a slump in prices of crude oil in the global market.

Azad stated, You accused Congress of corruption but under your government, all were acquitted in the 2G case.  We all believe in the law of the country and it has taken its course.

Names of all the schemes launched under UPA governance after 1985 have been changed. That’s why I say, that the government is not a ‘game changer’ but a ‘name changer’, he said.

In contrary to Amit Shah’s speech, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said the BJP government has only renamed the schemes made by UPA government.

The BJP President concluded his maiden speech by highlighting his government’s achievements over the years in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Every year from DBT, the country has saved Rs 57,000 crores. I believe that this is a very big achievement,” says Shah.

Speaking on Demonetisation, he asserted  “Notebandi is a huge jab at black money. We have worked to close over 3 lakh shell companies”.

“Kashmir issue is very crucial problem for the nation. Kashmir has never been so safe in the last 35 years. We handled the Kashmir issue very well”.

Shah described Surgical strike as a historic moment, saying that world started seeing India from a different view. He added, “They realised that after America & Israel, India is the only country which can protect its soldiers and Army”.

“For the first time after independence, a non-Congress party was given mandate by the public & it was BJP government led by PM Modi. In spite of getting an absolute majority, we formed the government with NDA members”, he said.

After the house resumed, BJP President Amit Shah made his debut speech in the house.

Following all this ruckus created, prompting adjournment till 2 pm.

Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu refused to admit the notice, saying he would allow a discussion under another rule.

Party MP Naresh Agarwal gave a notice under a rule to suspend all the listed business and hold the discussion.

Shouting slogans, the protesting SP members did not allow others to raise any issue during Zero Hour.

As the house resumed the Samajwadi Party raised fake encounter case in Uttar Pradesh.

Lok Sabha

After paying tribute to sitting member HukumSingh, the house adjourned for the day.

Dr. Karan Singh Yadav (Alwar Parliamentary Constituency, Rajasthan); Raghu Sharma (Ajmer Parliamentary Constituency, Rajasthan); and Sajda Ahmed (Uluberia Parliamentary Constituency, West Bengal) took their oath.
