Budget Session: Both the houses adjourned for the day following ruckus

New Delhi, April 3: Proceedings in both the houses were disrupted yet again on Tuesday as Parliament entered the last week of its Budget Session.

The Lok Sabha earlier halted amid protests, with Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourning the House till noon within minutes of the meeting.

As soon as the House met, AIADMK members started protesting near the Speaker’s podium, demanding the setting up of the Cauvery Management Board.

Speaker Mahajan tried to run the Question Hour, but as protests continued, she adjourned the House.

Meanwhile, similar stormy scenes witnessed in Rajya Sabha also over special category status for Andhra Pradesh, which led to adjournment of the house till April 4, 11 am.

Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu told the protesting leaders that he was ready to “discuss everything and every issue” amid noisy protests.

Following continuous uproar then adjourned the House for the day.

Prior to this, the newly-elected members to the upper House of Parliament took oath, including Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and other  17 members who have been re-elected.

Naidu asked the new members to get themselves acquainted with the etiquettes, procedures and rules of conduct of the House.
