Budget Session: Both the houses adjourned for the day after ruckus

New Delhi, March 7: After witnessing stormy scenes over several issues including special category status for Andhra Pradesh, PNB scam, statue vandalisation and others both the houses successively adjourned for the third day.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha adjourned for the day amid protests by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) over special category status for Andhra Pradesh, among other demands.

Minutes after the House assembled for the day, opposition members holding placards and raising slogans approached Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s podium.

Despite repeated request for them to calm down, when Mahajan was unable to run the proceedings, she adjourned the House.

Earlier, the TDP MPs had staged protests near the Mahatma Gandhi statue.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha also adjourned till 2 p.m. on following protests by members of the AIADMK and TDP.

Minutes after the House assembled, the AIADMK members approached Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu’s podium, carrying placards and shouting slogans on the Cauvery water issue, while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs demanded special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
