Lucknow, Sep 7: BSP supremo Mayawati on Friday said her party doesn’t agree with protests against the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
“BSP wants to say to the people who are protesting against the SC/ST Act and have formed a wrong idea in their head that the act will be misused & communities other than SC/ST and tribals will be oppressed”, she told media.
Mayawati further added, “that our party doesn’t agree with this idea”.
Her remark comes a day after, a countrywide protest (Bharat Bandh) against the SC/ST Amendment Act called by several upper caste and OBC communities.
During the protests, the agitators stopped trains, blocked roads and burnt effigies and tyres in several districts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
